Brother(s) to Dragons

A gay fantasy on erotic themes, by François Peneaud & Carlos García

Welcome

July 26th, 2007

Welcome to the blog of Brother to Dragons.

If you haven’t had a look at our presentation page, please do so first. All set? Good.
I’m François Peneaud, the writer of this series. Artist Carlos García and I have been working hard the past few months to create a hopefully original gay erotic fantasy that will take you to a place where the safety of the human world hinges on male/male sex.

Our first issue has been published in October 2007, and can be bought either from comics shops (give them the following code: “BROTHER TO DRAGONS DCD ITEM: AUG07 3481″ so that they order it if they haven’t yet) or from the publisher’s site, Class Comics.

In the following posts, you’ll find a preview of the series, with the 6-page prologue where our two main characters meet for the first time, as well as various art drawn by Carlos.

So…Tell all your friends, tell all your enemies, tell all the people that you do not know (points to the first reader who tells me where that’s from)…Brother To Dragons is ready to spread its leathery, horny wings for your pleasure and your edification.

EDIT: Nov. 4.

A Taste of Things to Come

September 5th, 2009

Hello, everybody.

Long time no see, and all that.
I hope some of you are still interested in reading the second issue of our comic, because it’s definitely coming. Carlos has almost finished it, and to prove I’m not lying, I offer you this:

CoverStripped02

An anthology of gay illustration published by Bruno Gmünder, Stripped Uncensored includes a six-page preview of our second issue. Carlos’s style has evolved and is even more dynamic and sexy, as you can see by yourself:

You can find this book at any bookstore, or at Amazon.

A Short Interview

June 1st, 2008

Dale Lazarov, writer of the gay erotic comic Sticky, has kindly done a short interview with me, about BtD and my site the Gay Comics List.
If you want to learn what influenced me when I first thought of BtD, have a look.

Our first fan-art

March 9th, 2008

Yann, one of our French readers, has been kind enough to send us a drawing he’s done of one of our characters. His version of Jiky is rather wonderful, isn’t it?
It feels ready good to see that our comic is an inspiration for other artists. Feel free to do the same…

Second sneak peek at BtD #2

March 5th, 2008

Artists never have enough websites to present their work: Carlos is now part of the collective posting at Patrick Fillion’s Artistic License gay art group blog, where you’ll find a whole invasion of Spanish artists (there’s an entire scene of gay comics in their country, most of it hasn’t been translated, unfortunately), as well as artists from other countries. Very nice idea.
For now, Carlos has posted a wonderful Aquaman/Hawkman drawing that makes me like the hairy winged superhero even more.

As for BtD #2, work is going well, and here is another panel to wet your appetite. Try and guess what Alaï and Jiky are doing.

First sneak peek at BtD #2

February 9th, 2008

Carlos has just finished drawing the first page of the second issue of Brother to Dragons, and we thought you’d like to get a peek at it.

BtD02 Sneak Peek 01

Another cryptic conversation between Alaï’s uncle and the mysterious mage…

You can also go to Carlos’s blog to see a panel from the end of the page, with a rather different scene.

The Unvanquished Sun, a short story

January 19th, 2008

We’re months away from the second issue of BtD, but we have a little something to hopefully keep you warm for the winter.
What follows is an all-new, (very) short story I’ve written, which acts as both a prequel to the series and a seasonal offering I hope you’ll all enjoy–it contains no spoiler, so you can read it even if you haven’t read our comic yet. Carlos is far too busy to draw it, but he’s kindly agreed to do an illustration to accompany it.
Read on, and do feel free to send in your comments.

Frère des Dragons is coming

December 31st, 2007

I know that a number of French readers are reading this blog, waiting for the publication of the French version of BtD, which is titled Frère des Dragons (the literal translation, for those of you who are French-impaired). I’m glad to be able to announce 1/ that les éditions H&O, our French publisher, have told me that FdD will be out on January 21st, and 2/ that I’m opening the French part of this blog. Do spread the word among your friends who don’t speak English.

We’ll also have a little something for you in a couple of weeks, to help you wait for the next issue.

Another review, and Carlos is busy

December 9th, 2007

Prism Comics is a site every fan of gay comics should visit often. And now you have an even better reason to, with their review of BtD #1. It’s quite positive, and they seem to get what we’re trying to do here.
Another site you should visit is Carlos’s blog, where he’s just posted a page of a short story he’s drawing for Handjobs Magazine. He’s already drawn one story for them, in a somewhat different style from the one he uses for BtD. I always admire artists who can draw in varied styles, and Carlos certainly can.

Two reviews

November 24th, 2007

Our first reviews! And they’re rather positive! I’m happy!
If you want to see what someone called the Ringmaster thinks of our first issue (isn’t that the name of a third-tier Marvel villain? Maybe he was fed up with getting beaten up by every would-be super-hero), have a look here.
And Joe Palmer, ruler of the Gay League, has written a very flattering review here. Disclaimer: I’ve known Joe for some time, but I doubt he’d have written all that if he wasn’t sincere.
Do feel free to write your own reviews, even if you’re not as happy with our work as Joe is, and send us a link (or to other reviews you might have found).
